Sadly, Meghan Trainor won’t be singing many carols this holiday season.
In a Thursday morning Instagram post, the 22-year-old performer announced she was put on vocal rest after seeing a doctor for an illness.
“I posted last week that I wasn’t feeling great, but was powering through the best that I could,” she wrote in a note to fans. “Unfortunately, I am not feeling any better and after leaving the doctor today, I have been put on strict vocal rest for the next two weeks.”
Trainor had several East Coast concerts scheduled in the coming weeks, including performances in Connecticut, New York City, Washington, DC, and Florida. The “All About That Bass” singer was also scheduled to appear at Jingle Ball in Atlanta.
She continued, “This absolutely kills me because I was so excited to see all of you on the road. I’m going to go home and rest so I can get back to see you all as soon as I can.”
Trainor made it clear that she was crushed by the circumstances and promised to make it up to fans in the New Year.
Trainor previously told PEOPLE she is planning on spending her first Christmas in Los Angeles with her family — and new boyfriend Daryl Sabara.
