Syed was inspired by his parents who told him that whatever your background, religion or colour, there are no limits to what you can achieve in life if you work hard and believe in yourself. Drawing lessons from his numerous election losses - and eventual victory - Syed's talk is a warm and humorous look at what it takes to succeed in your goals. Syed Kamall was born the son of a north London bus driver and went on to become an MEP for London and the most senior elected British politician in Brussels. He leads the third largest of the eight political groups in the European Parliament. He lives in Surbiton with his family and, on the occasional evening off, plays electric bass in a band. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
