Fishing today on the Medway River in Queens Co. Nova Scotia.
Once a very important Atlantic salmon spawning river it has been wiped clean of salmon by the illegal release of small mouth bass and chain pickerel. The trout are putting up a struggle but the numbers have been declining as well. I caught a few trout that I released, and 11 or 12 bass I smashed. The bass will go fishing with me as bait for the potentially huge, 50+ pounds, sea bass that come in the Bay of Fundy.. next week for those!
